Luggage Warranties

What about those luggage warranties? Exactly what do they mean? Well, to begin with, different warranties cover different items. Some of these warranties are all inclusive, while others rule out everything. You will need to actually read the warranty for the information, but these are some of the best. Briggs & Riley luggage has a “simple as that” warranty. The Briggs & Riley warranty on their luggage and briefcases simply covers everything mechanical. If a seam opens it’s covered. If a wheel breaks it’s covered. It doesn’t matter if you, the taxi driver, or the plane you took to Brazil has done the damage. The warranty will cover the cost of the repair. The Briggs & Riley warranty does not cover cleaning of the luggage, or the contents inside the luggage. But, as simple as that, any damage will be repaired for you at no charge. AND, it is as simple as that! The newest of the Travelpro luggage in the Platinum 6 series has a “worry free” warranty. This warranty covers all repairs even damage by an airline. It does not cover cleaning or the contents of the luggage either. But, you do not have to worry about your luggage needing a repair when traveling with this new, Platinum 6 Travelpro luggage. Another warranty that covers airline or cruise line damage is the Boyt Mach 5 luggage warranty. Boyt luggage calls this “the best luggage warranty” and it covers any repairs on wheels, handles, zippers, seams, etc. Victorinox Swiss Army luggage has a “carry with confidence” warranty. This warranty does cover airline, bus and train damage. None of the warranties cover cleaning or the clothing inside the luggage. These warranties do give you peace of mind, because you know that you are not responsible for the cost of repairs, or for making a claim at the airport after a long trip. The usual luggage warranty, which is generally called a “limited” warranty, excludes normal wear and tear, abuse and common carrier damage such as plane, train or bus handling. It does cover defects in material and workmanship. However, since most damage occurs when the luggage is being used on a plane, bus or train, these warranties are not as good as the “simple as that” from Briggs & Riley luggage, or the “worry free” warranty from Platinum 6 Travelpro luggage, or the Boyt Mach 5 luggage “best” warranty. With these more inclusive warranties, you are only responsible for returning the luggage to a repair facility that handles that particular brand. Travel will certainly be easier now that you know about luggage warranties!

It’s Blue Rhapsody from Vera Bradley Luggage!

This is a first for Vera Bradley luggage. They are introducing a “limited edition” color of three pieces of luggage that will be available for a limited time only. This Blue Rhapsody has been available in handbags and soft accessories and now will be available in three luggage sizes with wheels. This Blue Rhapsody color is lots of shades of blue with an accent of green. The Blue Rhapsody from Vera Bradley luggage is definitely for the “blue” lover! The luggage fabric is abrasion tested, tightly woven Micro Polycord with a DuPont teflon coated exterior that provides extra water and stain resistance. The interior of the luggage is Vera Bradley 100% cotton fabric that complements the exterior color and protects your clothing. The trim on the Vera Bradley luggage is sturdy patent leather PVC. The handles and piping on the luggage are of genuine patent leather PVC. Zippers are travel-tested to stand up to rigorous use and they provide smooth and quiet operation. The ergonomic handle grip is of space age TPR that ensures a comfortable hold whether you push or pull your luggage from place to place. Hub Guard protects the wheels against daily wear and tear. The in-line skate wheels with industrial strength steel ball bearings are quiet and effortless allowing you ease in rolling over different surfaces. The sturdy telescoping handle tubes are made of lightweight aircraft grade aluminum for durability and strength. To keep the Vera Bradley luggage lightweight, there’s reinforced case construction using Flyweight honeycomb Polyproplene. Blue Rhapsody will be available in a 22″ travel duffel. This is a convenient carry on size that will wheel down the aisle on most airplanes. The 21″ expandable wheelaboard is the traditional carry on size for most domestic airlines. This size also has a hidden add-a-bag strap hidden inside a zippered pocket to piggyback your laptop, briefcase, or another small tote. The 17″ wheeled tote will slide over the pull up handle of the two other sizes, allowing you to wheel both pieces easily. The wheeled Vera Bradley tote is ideal for smaller commuter airplanes, buses and trains too. You can even use this 17” Vera Bradley wheeled tote as a business case. Look for Vera Bradley Blue Rhapsody luggage to make an appearance in early October!

Lightweight luggage NEW from Briggs & Riley

The newest lightweight luggage from Briggs & Riley has arrived! Some of these cases have zippered expansion instead of the push button expansion. However, you can actually feel the difference in the weight on the new Briggs & Riley luggage! The luggage is also now available in the 24″ size with zippered expansion for longer weekends. Previously, the Briggs & Riley 24” size was only available in the one touch expandable model, or a non- expandable size. This 24″ size when expanded can also hold a week’s worth of clothing. The newest size is the 27″ Briggs & Riley which will easily take you away for a week or two weeks when expanded. The new 27″ size is also available in the “one touch” expandable model. This case expands by the push of a button instead of zippering it around to expand. Both sizes are lighter weight for your convenience. Additionally, both of these sizes have the removable garment sleeve inside. This is the easiest way to pack a man’s suit or sports jacket. You can also use the garment sleeve alone for car travel. There’s a large zippered pocket on the outside of both of the 27″ sizes. You can easily pack last minute items in the outside pocket as well as a raincoat and small travel umbrella! The hidden luggage tag is built in to the front of the bag and retracts by an elastic pull. Remember the pull up handle on Briggs & Riley luggage is on the outside of the bag. No lumps or bumps taking up space inside this luggage! Packing is much easier because you begin with a smooth surface inside. The entire inside of Briggs and Riley luggage is yours to pack with clothing and travel accessories. All of the Briggs & Riley Pullmans come with an approved TSA combination lock. This is the only lock permitted for use when flying. And of course, the best thing about Briggs & Riley luggage is the “simple as that” warranty. This warranty covers everything. You don’t have to worry about making a claim for damaged luggage (which rarely happens with Briggs & Riley anyway.) But, should the airlines or cruise line manage to damage your Briggs & Riley, just return the luggage to Briggs & Riley and it will be repaired at no charge. Travel certainly doesn’t get any easier than that!

Briggs & Riley Luggage “simple as that” Warranty

Tired of damaged luggage from airline or cruise line travel? Don’t want to replace your luggage every other year because it’s been ruined and is no longer fit to travel? Briggs and Riley luggage offers a lifetime performance guarantee. If your Briggs and Riley luggage is ever broken or damaged, even by airline travel, it will be repaired free of charge. Briggs and Riley call it their “simple as that” warranty. They have actually built their luggage to last through the rigors of travel. Whatever the airlines or cruise lines can throw at Briggs and Riley luggage, it can take it! The frame on Briggs and Riley luggage is a proprietary thermoplastic hybrid frame, which stands up to the toughest travel conditions. The Ballistic nylon outer fabric resists punctures, water, and wear, dirt, stains and abrasions. This fabric is designed to travel wherever you may want to go! There are corner guards on the luggage which are impact resistant shields streamlined to minimize corner abrasion. The long lasting YKK racquet coil zippers are ultra-durable. By minimizing areas that can be damaged, Briggs and Riley know it doesn’t have to worry about too many luggage repairs. Besides durability, Briggs and Riley luggage is also popular for having the pull up bars on the outside of the luggage. This frees up all of the space inside the luggage for your clothing, travel accessories, cosmetics, etc. No need to pack around the lumps and bumps caused by the bars inside. There are no bars inside the Briggs and Riley luggage. This makes packing a lot easier and smoother. You won’t have to pack around the bars or give up luggage space you need for yourself. Briggs and Riley also have expandable luggage, and removable garment sleeves with their Pullman sizes. Packing can’t get any easier than with Briggs and Riley luggage. This is the luggage we recommend whenever we hear that complaint, “I’m tired of having to constantly replace my luggage!” The few repairs that may need to be made on Briggs and Riley luggage are done quickly and efficiently. And, it’s true; they are always done at NO CHARGE. It’s as simple as that, and it’s comforting to know that when making a luggage purchase. Now, you can concentrate on your travel plans!

CRUISES - You can really set SALE

There are deals galore for those planning a cruise in 2009. Every cruise ship seems to be offering some type of cost reduction with incredible value. Not only are nine major new ships being introduced, but also the economy has caused Cruise lines to slash prices and offer lots of money saving deals. New cruise ships debuting this year are AIDAluna, Carnival Dream, Celebrity Equinox, Costa Luminosa, Costa Pacifica, MSC Splendida, Oasis of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), Seabourn Odyssey, and Silver Spirit. Many of the premium destinations are also offering deals and upgrades, so do some research and start packing. Some cruise lines are offering free flights and hotel stays, or onboard credits. You also can pack those larger pieces of luggage because the Cruise lines are not as strict as the airlines and generally allow you to “over pack.” Kenneth Cole luggage and Skyway luggage have those larger 29″ sizes. Delsey Hyperlite luggage has the 28″ expandable size. You can also pack up those larger sized garment carriers, such as the Prolite luggage garment bag, which easily holds twenty garments or more! Briggs and Riley luggage also has a full sized garment bag for lots of suits and dresses. Remember if you are flying to your cruise destination, you will have to watch airline size and weight restrictions to avoid extra fees. Additionally, you can learn how to obtain discounts, upgrades, choose cabin locations and more on www.newsday.com/travel. You can also contact cruise lines directly to see what offers are available. There are so many wonderful offers, you’ll want to review them all and decide what works best for you. Whatever you choose, you know you’ll have a wonderful, relaxing vacation!
